The history between Musk and Saudi authorities became contentious in 2018 when Musk tweeted about having “funding secured” for Tesla’s privatization, leading to lawsuits from investors and tensions between Musk and PIF governor Yasir al-Rumayyan.

However, recent attempts at reconciliation are apparent, as Musk was seen alongside al-Rumayyan and former US President Donald Trump at a recent UFC event in New York. He also made an unexpected appearance at Riyadh’s Future Investment Initiative summit, signaling a thaw in relations.

Despite global challenges, such as a more than 42% drop in EV sales in Europe and criticism in the U.S. related to Musk’s political views, Tesla continues its global expansion.
