A tragic incident unfolded in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, where a 22-year-old woman orchestrated the murder of her husband only two weeks after their marriage. Pragati Yadav, previously in a four-year relationship with Anurag Yadav, was compelled by her parents to wed Dilip on March 5, despite her wishes.
On March 19, Dilip was found gravely injured in a field with gunshot wounds. He was initially taken to the community health center in Bidhuna but was later transferred to Saifai Hospital and subsequently to a facility in Gwalior due to deteriorating conditions. Dilip succumbed to his injuries on March 21 after being moved to a hospital in Auraiya.
Following the murder, Dilip’s brother lodged a complaint with the Sahar police. Investigations revealed that Pragati and Anurag, unable to continue their relationship post-marriage, devised a plan to eliminate Dilip. They reportedly hired contract killer Ramaji Chaudhary for Rs 2 lakh to execute the murder.
Ramaji and accomplices lured Dilip to the fields under false pretenses, where they brutally attacked and shot him before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement utilized CCTV footage to identify the suspects, leading to their arrest. Authorities seized two pistols, live cartridges, a motorcycle, and several personal items from the accused, with additional suspects still being pursued.
This harrowing case underscores the tragic consequences of forced marriages and the extreme lengths individuals may resort to when confronted with societal pressures. The swift response of law enforcement in apprehending the culprits highlights the need for ongoing vigilance against such violent acts. It serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of understanding and addressing underlying relationship dynamics in familial and societal contexts.
