In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Muskaan Rastogi has been implicated in the murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, alongside her lover, Sahil Shukla. According to officials, Muskaan altered her husband’s prescription to acquire sleeping pills, which she used to subdue him prior to committing the crime. On March 4, the couple allegedly stabbed Saurabh multiple times and subsequently dismembered his body, concealing the remains in a drum filled with cement.
The investigation highlighted that Muskaan purchased the pills from Usha Medical Store, prompting a raid on the establishment. Meerut drug inspector Piyush Sharma shared, “We are searching this place and checking all sale records to gather details about the drug that was purchased by the accused.” The authorities are reviewing records to determine any violations concerning prescription requirements for the medication.
Police reports indicate that after the murder, Muskaan and Sahil went on a vacation to Himachal Pradesh, misleading Saurabh’s family by sending messages from his phone. The murder was ultimately uncovered when Muskaan confessed to her mother on March 18, leading to her arrest alongside Sahil. The post-mortem examination revealed severe injuries to Saurabh, confirming the violent nature of the crime.
Muskaan, who had been married to Saurabh since 2016, expressed to prison authorities her need for a government lawyer, stating her family’s disapproval of her actions. Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma noted that it is their responsibility to provide legal representation to inmates who request it. Meanwhile, Sahil has not made a similar request for legal counsel.
