CCTV footage in Vadodara reveals Rakshit Chaurasia may have pressured Pranshu to switch seats before a crash that killed one and injured seven. Chaurasia has been charged with culpable homicide. Public outrage is mounting, with demands for strict action to prevent future incidents.
In Vadodara, CCTV footage has revealed that Rakshit Chaurasia, accused of causing a fatal crash that resulted in one death and seven injuries, may have pressured his friend Pranshu Chauhan to switch seats so he could drive the vehicle. Chaurasia, a 23-year-old law student from Prayagraj, was arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder following the accident involving multiple vehicles.
The footage shows Chaurasia and his friend Suresh arriving at Suresh’s residence on a scooter around 10:30 PM. Approximately 15 minutes later, Pranshu arrives in a sedan and parks outside Suresh’s house. Just before the crash at 11:25 PM, it appears that Chaurasia insisted on driving after an obstruction obscured the view of the exact transition in seating.
Post-accident video footage displays the damaged vehicle’s front with deployed airbags. Pranshu is heard expressing disbelief at Chaurasia’s behavior, indicating a chaotic scene. Following the crash, Pranshu has since gone missing, and law enforcement is actively searching for him.
The police have confirmed the seat switch but state that the investigation regarding whether pressure was exerted by Chaurasia is ongoing. Chaurasia claimed he was not under the influence nor speeding, attributing the crash to a pothole and asserting that the airbags malfunctioned and impaired their visibility, leading to a loss of control.
The incident has incited considerable public outrage, with victims and their families calling for strict measures to avert future accidents. Injured survivor Vikas Kevlani emphasized, “Fine is not the solution. Only if there is strict action will they understand what they have done.”
The recent fatal accident in Vadodara has raised significant concerns over road safety and the responsibilities of drivers. The investigation into the actions of Rakshit Chaurasia and the circumstances surrounding the seat switch with Pranshu Chauhan continues. Public demand for stringent penalties reflects a need for enhanced measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. Victims and their families seek justice and accountability in light of the devastating consequences of reckless driving.
