Interpol Issues Global Alert for Missing Indian-Origin Student Sudiksha Konanki

Interpol has issued a yellow notice for Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old Indian-origin student missing in the Dominican Republic since March 6. She was last seen with a person of interest, Joshua Riibe. Her family urges authorities to investigate all possibilities, including abduction, especially given her belongings were left behind.

Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, has released a global alert regarding the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki, an Indian-origin student. The 20-year-old, who resides in Virginia and studies at the University of Pittsburgh, was last seen in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on March 6 during a spring break trip. The yellow notice issued by Interpol aims to assist in locating missing persons, including those subjected to kidnapping or unexplained disappearances.

Sudiksha Konanki is described as 1.6 meters tall with black hair, brown eyes, and three piercings on her right ear. During her vacation, she was with five female friends at a resort. Surveillance footage captured them walking towards the beach, but while the others returned, Sudiksha was seen with Joshua Riibe, a senior from St Cloud State University in Minnesota, who has become a person of interest in this case.

Joshua Riibe admitted to being with Sudiksha when she went missing. NBC News obtained a transcript where he shared that they were “in waist-deep water, talking and kissing” before a strong wave disoriented them. He attempted to ensure her safety as they swam to shore, but upon reaching shallow waters, he noticed her walking at an angle in the water before losing sight of her. Riibe later returned to his hotel alone, leading to further investigations.

Sudiksha’s family has expressed their concerns regarding the investigation, urging authorities to consider abduction given that her phone and wallet were left with friends. They find this particularly troubling as she typically carried her phone everywhere. Sudiksha is a biology and chemistry student residing with her family in Loudoun County, Virginia.

The ongoing investigation into Sudiksha Konanki’s disappearance has garnered international attention following the issuance of an Interpol yellow notice. As her family calls for thorough inquiries into potential abduction, the circumstances surrounding her last known moments with Joshua Riibe raise significant questions. This case exemplifies the critical need for comprehensive investigations into missing persons, particularly in ambiguous situations involving potential foul play.
