The accident occurred on March 1, with Saurabh reportedly driving at high speed as they returned from a temple in Kashmiri Gate. The impact was severe enough to throw Rishal onto the car’s windscreen, while his bicycle became trapped beneath the vehicle as it sped off, leaving him dead at the scene.
Detectives investigated by examining footage from over 150 CCTV cameras. They successfully traced the offending car to a garage in Panipat, Haryana. The investigation revealed that the car, a blue Hyundai Venue, had sustained damage to its windscreen and bonnet, which the accused were attempting to repair in an effort to destroy evidence. Fortunately, police intervened before they could complete this task.
Rishal Singh, a Budh Vihar resident, supported his family, which includes three married sisters and a younger brother in Class 8, through his newspaper delivery earnings of approximately Rs 10,000 monthly.
