Murder Case of Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla: A Fatal Error in Execution

Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, charged with murdering Muskaan’s husband Saurabh Rajput, misjudged the weight of their plan to dispose of his dismembered body stored in a sealed drum. After struggling to eliminate the evidence, they were arrested when Muskaan confessed. Saurabh’s strained relationship with his wife and unresolved issues contributed to this tragic case.

Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla, both from Meerut, are charged with the murder of Muskaan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput. Their intention was to dispose of his body discreetly after returning from a vacation in Himachal Pradesh. However, they misjudged the weight of the cement-sealed drum containing Saurabh’s dismembered body parts, leading to their eventual capture.

The investigation revealed that on March 3, Muskaan and Sahil brutally stabbed Saurabh to death before dismembering his body into 15 pieces, which they placed into the drum and sealed with wet cement. Following this horrific crime, they left for a two-week vacation, planning to deal with the body upon their return. After celebrating their getaway, they encountered difficulties in getting rid of the drum when labourers struggled to lift it, revealing its grisly contents, which alerted the workers.

In a moment of panic, Muskaan fled to her parents’ home and initially attempted to blame Saurabh’s sister and brother-in-law. However, facing intense questioning from her family led to her confession about the murder to the police. Subsequently, both Muskaan and Sahil were arrested and placed in judicial custody.

Saurabh Rajput, formerly a Merchant Navy officer, was married to Muskaan in 2016 and had a daughter with her. The relationship had been fraught with tension, particularly following Saurabh’s discovery of Muskaan’s affair with Sahil in 2019. Saurabh hesitated to file for divorce, primarily for their child’s wellbeing. He was murdered during a visit home for their daughter’s birthday.

Muskaan’s parents alleged that the motive for the murder stemmed from fears regarding Saurabh’s intervention in their drug use. They expressed their support for justice for Saurabh, while his family claimed that Muskaan was primarily interested in Saurabh’s financial status, leading to ongoing familial conflicts.

The tragic case of Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla reveals how poor planning and an unmanageable crime led to their downfall. The couple’s gruesome actions, stemming from a convoluted personal relationship and underlying issues, resulted in the unnecessary loss of life and now faces serious legal consequences. The incident highlights the devastating impact of infidelity and substance abuse within familial structures.
