Police investigations revealed that the officer, Saurabh Rajput, was dismembered, with his remains sealed in a drum filled with cement, following an extramarital affair involving his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her accomplice, Sahil Shukla.
Saurabh Rajput and Muskaan Rastogi entered into a love marriage in 2016, leading Saurabh to leave his Merchant Navy career for family life. Their relationship soured, prompting Saurabh to move out with Muskaan to a rented residence. Despite having a daughter in 2019, Saurabh discovered that his wife was having an affair with his friend, leading to marital tensions and considerations of divorce. Saurabh ultimately chose to prioritize his daughter’s future and rejoined the Merchant Navy, departing the country in 2023.
Saurabh returned home on February 24 to celebrate his daughter’s sixth birthday, unaware that Muskaan and Sahil had conspired to murder him. On March 4, Muskaan reportedly drugged Saurabh with sleeping pills, enabling her and Sahil to kill him with a knife and dismember the body. They placed the remains in a drum, which was sealed with concrete, to dispose of it without being detected.
In the aftermath of Saurabh’s disappearance, Muskaan misled locals by claiming he was on a trip, even traveling to Manali with Sahil while using Saurabh’s phone to post updates on social media. As communications with Saurabh ceased, his family filed a missing person report, prompting police to investigate.
Police detained Muskaan and Sahil for questioning, during which they confessed to the murder and indicated the location of the body. Although initial attempts to break through the cement were unsuccessful, authorities eventually used a drill to recover the remains fourteen days after Saurabh’s death. Police Chief Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation will proceed in court, with the body sent for autopsy.
This tragic case underscores the consequences of betrayal and the extreme measures some individuals may take. The investigation revealed layers of deceit and a chilling murder plot executed by those closest to the victim.
