Allegations of Rape in Delhi Involve British Tourist and Local Man

A British woman was allegedly gang-raped in Delhi by a man she befriended on Instagram. The police have arrested both suspects and informed the British High Commission. Separately, an eight-year-old girl was raped by her father in Sadar Bazar, with the accused apprehended shortly after the incident was reported.

The Delhi police reported an alarming incident involving a British woman who was allegedly gang-raped by two men at a hotel in Mahipalpur, Delhi. One of the perpetrators, identified as Kailash, had befriended this woman on Instagram and she traveled from the UK to meet him. Both suspects have been arrested, and the British High Commission has been notified regarding the situation.

The police indicated that Kailash, a Mayur Vihar resident, had developed an acquaintance with the woman through social media over a few months. During her visit to India, where she had previously been to Maharashtra and Goa, she reached out to Kailash, proposing a meeting. He invited her to Delhi instead of traveling to meet her.

Upon her arrival on Tuesday evening, the woman checked into a hotel, where she later invited Kailash and his accomplice, Wasim. They consumed alcohol and had dinner before proceeding to her room. It was reported that Kailash then assaulted her, and when she protested, he brought Wasim into the room to assist him in subduing her.

In a separate, distressing incident, an eight-year-old girl was raped by her father in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar. The crime surfaced when her mother approached the police on March 8, reporting the assault. The perpetrator, a vegetable vendor, was apprehended the same day after being identified by local residents who reported him to the police authorities.

The recent incidents in Delhi highlight severe concerns regarding the safety of individuals, particularly tourists, and the grave nature of sexual offenses. The first case illustrates the vulnerability that can arise in social media interactions, while the second underscores the need for urgent action against domestic violence. Both situations necessitate a comprehensive response to ensure justice and enhance public safety.
