25-Year-Old Man Strangled for Refusing Holi Colors in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan, a 25-year-old man was strangled to death after refusing to allow three men to apply Holi colors on him. The incident led to protests by the victim’s family and villagers, demanding compensation and immediate arrests. Police intervened, assuring the protesters before the body was removed from the national highway.

In Rajasthan’s Dausa district, a tragic incident occurred where a 25-year-old man was reportedly strangled to death for refusing to allow three men to apply Holi colors on him. The altercation took place in Ralwas village on Wednesday evening as Hansraj was studying at a local library for competitive exams. When he declined their advances, the three assailants responded violently, assaulting him before one ultimately strangled him, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Agarwal.

Following the incident, outraged family members and villagers protested with Hansraj’s body, obstructing a national highway until 1 a.m. on Thursday. They demanded several actions from authorities: a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Hansraj’s family, a government job for one family member, and the immediate apprehension of the accused individuals. The protest subsided only after police provided assurances, leading to the removal of the body from the highway.

This unfortunate event in Rajasthan underscores the need for serious discourse on personal autonomy and the right to resist unwanted social practices. The community’s response also highlights grievances regarding safety and justice in violent situations. Authorities face mounting pressure to address these concerns and secure justice for the victim’s family.
