In Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, a distressing incident occurred where a 55-year-old man, T. Ramanjaneyulu, allegedly hanged his twenty-year-old daughter, T. Bharati, and subsequently burned her body. This tragic act is believed to have been motivated by his frustration regarding her ongoing love affair.
The police reported that the event transpired on March 1 at approximately 1 PM in a secluded area of Kasapuram village. After committing the alleged crime, Ramanjaneyulu doused her remains with petrol and set them ablaze to ensure her complete immolation.
Authorities revealed that Bharati had defied her parents’ wishes, exhibiting a strong attachment to her boyfriend. She reportedly made threats of suicide while avoiding communication with her mother. This perceived disobedience led Ramanjaneyulu to take her to Kasapuram and hang her from a tree.
Bharati and her boyfriend had been in a relationship for five years, although disapproval from both families emerged upon discovering the affair. At the time of her death, Bharati was a second-year college student in Kurnool, while her boyfriend was studying in Hyderabad.
As the youngest of four daughters, Bharati was unique in her educational pursuits; her three elder sisters did not attain formal education. This situation had led her parents to place considerable expectations on her achievements.
Following the incident, Ramanjaneyulu surrendered to law enforcement officials. He is now facing legal action under BNS Section 103. Reports indicate that he made a living through selling snacks and breakfast items.
