According to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Proctor Mohamad Waseem Ali, CCTV footage captures the moments leading to the attack, revealing that Kaif was on his scooter with three companions when confronted by a group of assailants who instigated an altercation.
The confrontation escalated quickly, with one of the attackers firing shots at Mohammad Kaif while also assaulting him with a sharp weapon. Witnesses on the scene raised alarms, prompting the assailants to flee before police and university security personnel could arrive. Emergency responders transported Kaif to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital; however, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Civil Lines Circle Officer Abhay Pandey disclosed that law enforcement is in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) based on a formal complaint submitted by the victim’s family.
