Afan’s brutal actions unfolded in and around Venjaramoodu, a suburb of Thiruvananthapuram, on Monday, resulting in the deaths of his grandmother, paternal uncle, aunt, younger brother, and girlfriend. He attempted to kill his mother as well; however, she survived the assault. Following the murders, Afan surrendered to the local police and confessed his actions.
The family was facing significant financial pressures, exacerbated by persistent harassment from creditors.
